Doha, 2 September 2025 — Qatar’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Israel has yet to issue any response to the most recent ceasefire proposal for Gaza, despite Hamas having already accepted the terms.
Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari told reporters that although communication has continued with mediators and the United States, “there has been no progress on the framework.”
“There has been no Israeli response yet,” al-Ansari said. “There must be an Israeli response and engagement in negotiations, but there is nothing new so far.”
The spokesman criticized Israel’s reported plan to occupy Gaza, warning that such a move “poses a threat to everyone,” including Israeli captives currently held inside the enclave. He urged the international community to form a unified stance to halt Israel’s military operations.
Al-Ansari also expressed skepticism about the broader peace process, stating:
“There is no point in waiting for the peace process while no Israeli party wants this process.”
Qatar, along with Egypt and the United States, has played a central role in mediation efforts since the war began. However, negotiations remain stalled as Israel’s government has not publicly committed to the latest proposal.
