KHAGRACHHARI – A mobile court in Khagrachhari has fined two individuals a total of Tk 2 lakh for illegally cutting a hill. The operation was conducted on Wednesday morning in the Sabujbag area of the sadar upazila. The convicted individuals were identified as Md. Akhter Hossain and Md. Sahab Ali, both residents of the area.

According to Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sujan Chandra Roy, approximately 50 feet of a tall hill was cut without authorization for the purpose of building a house. In accordance with the Sand Quarry and Soil Management Act of 2010, each person was fined Tk 1 lakh. They were informed that failure to pay the fine would result in a one-month jail sentence.
